Croagh Patrick The 764 metre climb to the summit of Irelands Holy Mountain has been a tradition for over 5000 years and is only a hop skip and a jump from your bedroom. The Reek as it is known to the locals is climbed by thousands of people a year to follow in the foot steps of St Patrick who on the summit of the mountain fasted for forty days. On the summit stands a church where on the last Sunday of July 25000 people flock here to listen to the words of God. |

Local Beaches The coast of Clew Bay is renowned for its clean sheltered beaches ideal for swimming, sailing, surfing, boat trips, fishing and even snorkelling at Old head beach. From bertra beach to silver strand the coast has all you could wish for. The beach at Carrowniskey has become a popular surfing destination and there is a surf school operating in the summer Surf Mayo. The more sheltered beaches of old head and Bertra and Carrowmore are located in clew bay boasting beautiful views and are the perfect location for a day on the beach with the family or a leisurely stroll. |

The Islands
Take a day trip out to Clare Island, Inish Turk or Inish boffin on many of the ferries that go from Westport or Roonagh. Both only a short distance from the B&B. Achill Island is also one not to be missed and is a only a 40 minute drive from Westport.
Golf
Westport Golf Club is an 18 hole, 73par course. It is rated as one of the top golf courses in Ireland. It is recognised as a prestigious venue and has hosted both the Ladies Home Internationals in 1989 and the Irish Amateur Close Championship on three occasions and most recently the staging of the 2002 Smurfit Irish P.G.A. Championship.
Clewbay Golf course is a 9 hole Par 35. This course provides a challenge for the true golfer and at the same time encourages the beginner. This course offers a unique view of clew bay.
